Jalan Sultan Ismail is an attraction-packed street located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This happening street offers a host of urban treats such as restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels. Jalan Sultan Ismail happens to be located within the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur which is known as the main shopping, nightlife and business district. It is located at the northeast area of the City Centre, roughly covering the area north of Jalan Pudu, south of Jalan Ampang, and west of Jalan Imbi and Jalan Tun Razak.

The Golden Triangle also embraces the forever busy shopping area of Bukit Bintang, the office towers of Jalan Raja Chulan, the five-star hotel strip of Jalan Sultan Ismail, the party strip of Jalan P. Ramlee and the whole Kuala Lumpur City Centre(KLCC).

History

This street was formerly named after William Hood Treacher and was known as Treacher Road, second resident general of Federated States of Malaya. Later it was changed to Jalan Sultan Ismail, after the Sultan of Johor and the name still sticks till today.

Transportation

Jalan Sultan Ismail is located at the hub of the city therefore accessing transportation will not be a major problem as all the major public transport ply the area. An additional advantage about this place is that it is just 10 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and the iconic Twin Towers.

There is a choice to either walk or use public transportation. The nearest train stations are the Bukit Nanas train station (MONORAIL) or the Dang Wangi station (LRT).

There are many 5-star hotels here, namely Mutiara Crowne Plaza, Equatorial, Shangri-La, Sheraton Imperial, Parkroyal, Renaissance and Concorde. Nightclubs nearby are Hard Rock Café, Nouvo, Life Centre and Espanda. The entire landscape is pierced with soaring skyscrappers, shopping malls, cool night clubs and top-notch hotels.

Shopping centres that dot the Bukit Bintang area include Low Yat Plaza, Sungai Wang Plaza, Lot 10, Pavilion, Starhill and Berjaya Times Square.
