An Introduction to Kepong
Kepong
Introduction
Kepong is strategically located just about 15 kms from the Golden Triangle. It is one of the most sought-after residential hotspots in recent years due to the spreading concept of a balanced lifestyle. Geographically, Kepong is surrounded by 600 hectares of pristine forest land. The onsite Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) is committed to promoting sustainable environment management. Desa Park City, one of the highly-regarded hybrid projects in Kepong, has drawn wide attention due to its efforts in building an all-rounded community with a green touch.
Transportation
Residents of Kepong enjoy well-connected roadways for private cars as well as public trains and buses that cater to daily passengers. The main roads in Kepong are Jalan Kepong that extends to become the Middle Ring Road II (MRRII), Damansara-Puchong Expressway that runs north-south, Jalan Ipoh that leads to the city centre and the North-South Highway, as well as Penchala Link that provides easy access to Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. There are two train stations on the commuter's Rawang-Seremban route, namely the Kepong KTM station and Kepong Sentral KTM station. RapidKL and other operators provide reliable bus services to Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas.
Amenities & Facilities
Kepong is a rare scenic haven complete with top grade urban conveniences. For shopping needs, Carrefour, Jusco and Brem Mall provide ample supply of groceries and fashionable goods. Schools and medical centres are available throughout. For recreation, the Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve is a perfect getaway to relax and recharge. FRIM, which has been commissioned to manage the reserve, offers educational outdoor jungle trips for kids and adults alike. In addition, Kepong Metropolitan lake park is known for kite flying, boating and fishing.
Economy & Development
Historically, Kepong is a largely ethnic town with no shortage of economic activities. Its economic lens bear witness to the rubber plantation, tin and quarry trades in the colonial days, as well as the modern-time ventures into the industrial realm following the birth of the Kepong Industrial Park. The establishment of the nearby Sungai Buloh and Rawang Industrial Zones has also contributed indirectly to Kepong's growing economic status, giving it an edge in the logistics of the import and export trades.
