About Datum Jelatek

Datum Jelatek is a huge integrated development project by Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) in collaboration with Worldwide Holdings which is its subsidiary. The whole project is allotted a budget of a whopping 1.2 million. Since it is such a huge project it is set to be developed in stages. Datum Jelatek is nestled on 2.4 hectares of land right beside Jelatek Rapid KL LRT station. It is composed of 3 buildings all 45 storey’s high. It has a shopping center, office tower, serviced residence and hotel. With a shopping mall right on the ground floor, shopping will be very convenient for residents and hotel guests. Now you can enjoy a hot latte with your girlfriends, spend a day at the salon, go shopping for that sexy club outfit or catch the newest James Bond movie any time. This is what is so great about living above a mall. Mothers can now do grocery shopping at their convenience. If you want to cook a special family meal, then you can just make a quick trip downstairs to buy the ingredients. For young professionals who always are in a hurry you can grab a cup of coffee from Starbucks before running off to work. At night if you do not feel like cooking, then you can throw on that sexy black dress and dine out in style with your hubby. There are many fine restaurants to choose from with exotic dishes that will surely make your dining experience pleasurable. If you are in a hurry you can just order take out at any of the fast food outlets. Be warned though that too much fast food is bad for your health. So you can even it out by buying fresh fruits at the grocery section. Now is this not convenient? This development is set to be Green Building Index Platinum certified. It should be finished by year 2013.

Datum Jelatek is very easy to get to via Jalan Setiawangsa, Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway, Jalan Jelatek, Duta Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), Jalan Taman Setiawangsa Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), and Jalan Ampang. The best way to get to it though is through Jelatek Rapid KL LRT station because the station stops right inside the development. Before Datum Jelatek commenced construction, the area used to be filled with low-cost and old flats. It was called “Flat Columbia” because of the rampant drug trafficking happening in the area. The old residents were paid a compensation fee of about RM250,000 to RM300,000 each just so they would move out. Business owners were paid RM 150,000 to 200,000 thousand more. This is pretty understandable. After all, they would be losing more than their home. They would be losing their livelihood – possible their only source of income. In total, 90 % of the residents and business owners accepted the compensation fee and agreed to leave. However, the remaining 10% did not. So they will have to be transferred to 2 flats in front of Jelatek RapidKL LRT station.
