Mr Ashok K. Kantha, the High Commissioner of India and Mr Umang Sharma, Chairman of Consortium of Indian Industries in Malaysia (CIIM), recently led a delegation to the South Economic Corridor of Johor Bahru. The purpose of the visit was to explore the possibilities of attracting companies in the Indian education as well as Pharma and Biotech sector to invest in Iskandar Malaysia.
In a discussion with Johor Menteri Besar YB Dato’ Haji Abdul Ghani Othman, the delegation said that there was not enough exposure of Iskandar Malaysia to Indian companies. It was suggested that conducting road shows in major cities in India will generate a lot of interest and eventually lead to investments in Malaysia and Iskandar.
A Malaysian delegation to India is being planned to take place in Q4 this year.
