Gamuda Land’s Bandar Botanic projects score highest CONQUAS rating
Phase Ph18A and Ph18B bungalows rated 86.9% and are highest in Malaysia Feb 03, 2010
Gamuda Land scored the highest CONQUAS (Construction
Quality Assessment System) rating by the Building Construction Authority (BCA)
of Singapore for residential and institutional buildings in Malaysia.
Bandar Botanic phases Ph18A and Ph18B bungalows (residential)
and Jade Hills Resort Club (institutional) scored 86.9 per cent and 80.6 per
cent respectively. The score of 86.9 per cent is not only the highest for landed
residential property in Malaysia but also for overseas project.
Gamuda Land said in a press statement that they have
adopted the system in 2003 and scored an average of 80.8 per cent for the year
2009 which was a steady increase from an average score of 73.9 per cent in
2006. It added that the implementation of CONQUAS has resulted in a decrease in
incidences of defect liability from 0.3 per cent of the total complaints
received to 0.1 per cent, proving that when things are done right from the
start, there is less to be expended on defect rectification works later.
Chow Chee Wah, managing director of Gamuda Land Sdn
Bhd said, “As a pioneer for implementing CONQUAS for landed properties, we are
not only setting the trend for ourselves, but also for the industry. We are
always thinking about the benefit of our purchasers. As such, we have also
raised our internal benchmarks with an aim to constantly provide a higher
workmanship standard as well as better quality buildings. As a result, you can
see that our scores have been steadily rising over the years. We started off
implementing CONQUAS with only one township, but now we are making it
compulsory for all our townships so that we can ensure a certain standard of
workmanship across our products and continue to meet our purchasers’
expectations.”
According to Gamuda Land, a CONQUAS assessed home
translates to a quality home which is an additional assurance by the developer
to the purchaser. Assessments are marked over 100 points, a higher score equals
to better workmanship quality. CONQUAS scoring is done only once and there is
no rescoring.
