IPGA Ltd, which operates iProperty.com.my, has acquired Think Media Sdn Bhd, owner and operator of thinkproperty.com.my, for A$2.08 million (RM6 million). IPGA CEO Shaun Di Gregorio said that the acquisition will give the company control of the number two property portal in the Malaysian marketplace, complementing its market-leader  iproperty.com.my.

“We’ll continue to run thinkproperty.com.my as a standalone website in Malaysia as it offers consumers a different user experience and allows advertisers to reach a unique audience of property buyers and sellers,” he added.

On a separate note, iProperty.com.my has launched the first iPad real estate search app in Malaysia (www.iproperty.com.my/ipadapp). The launch follows the company’s recent unveiling of its Singapore real estate search app in August, the first real estate iPad application in Asia.

Users will be able to view over 115,000 properties for sale and rent whilst on the move. A highlight of the app is in its built-in GPS feature, enabling users to view properties on the market near their current location. Users can then get directions to their chosen property to view the actual site.
