A development of great proportions is taking place right in the midst of Petaling Jaya. It is the futuristic, out-of-this-world, revolutionary POD.

Expected to be completed in December 2010, The POD Showroom, an iconic pavilion is inspired by water droplets in nature, creating a dynamic spherical form resulting in a primitive building archetype with a modern twist. The round and soft shape of The Pod is formed as a series of elliptical sections of variable widths and heights. Slithers of windows bring natural daylight into the spaces below.

The building appears to be sliced diagonally into a series of ribbons which wrap up and over the building creating a dynamic space within, forming a layered protective shell.

With tubular steel members and spectrally reflective aluminium panels forming the structure, its exterior skin colour shades change depending on the reflection of the sun. It is surrounded by greenery with a reflective water pool wrapping around the edges that will contribute to the Bioclimatic behaviour and wellness of its inhabitants.

The Petaling Jaya Commercial Centre, which won The Best of Asian real estate award at Cityscape Asia’s 2010 Best Developer Award for Mixed Use (Future) category held in Singapore in May 2010, represents a new generation of developments blending luxury with innovative lifestyle. It will host on-site offices and the main showroom in The Pod, which will reflect the spirit and the architectural style of the whole development.
