EPF pledges transparency in RRIM land development

THE Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has assured a transparent process in the development of Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia (RRIM) land in Sungai Buloh- "Any interested parties will have to participate in the tender exercise," it said in a statement responding to a local daily which highlighted industry players' concern on the selection process of the project- Under the 10th Malaysia Plan, the government announced that the EPF would form a joint venture to develop a 1,214ha owned by RRIM into a new hub in Klang Valley- This will subsequently lead to RM5 billion of new investments- In a recent research note, OSK Research said Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) is among the frontrunners to develop the RRIM development project- It was also reported that MRT project owner, Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd, will be given a parcel of land in the RRIM development project for commercial development as part of the "rail-plus-property" model being used to offset the cost of building the MRT- Meanwhile, the EPF confirmed reports on the appointment of Mohamad Lotfy Mohamad Noh as managing director of its subsidiary Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd effective March 1- Kwasa Land is a joint venture company between the government and EPF to develop the RRIM land- The government approved the proposed plan to develop the land in principle on May 12 last year- Mohamad Lofty currently heads the property investment department at EPF, a position he has held since year 2005- He was formerly a director of MRCB-...
