Nadicorp is looking at importing luxury reconditioned cars from Europe and Japan, says its executive chairman Kuala Lumpur: Nadicorp Holdings Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh is considering selling imported cars or luxury reconditioned (recond) automobiles in Malaysia- Nadzmi told Business Times in a recent interview that he is looking at importing the cars from Europe and Japan- He declined to reveal details of the plan- A recond car is a used vehicle that has been repaired and repainted, with the worn-out parts replaced- The interior parts such as seats that look old are also re-upholstered, making the car look as good as new-Rover, Renault, Fiat, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo and Porsche are some of the well-known European brands- Their Japanese peers include Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Subaru- "Currently, we are a dealer for Isuzu, Proton and Hyundai- Since I have the expertise in the automotive sector, I would like to expand it in this area- It is an idea I am currently toying with," said Nadzmi- Nadzmi, who is also Proton Holdings Bhd chairman, has been in the automotive business for more than 30 years- Meanwhile, Nadzmi said Nadicorp will remain a private entity- "We prefer to keep it private as long as possible for faster growth," he said- Nadicorp, formerly known as Mara holdings Sdn Bhd, was set up in 1998 and is one of the largest private Bumiputera conglomerates with a stable of 22 operating subsidiaries- Transportation and plantation are two of six core businesses of the group- The rest are manufacturing, property, defence and support services- ...
