KUALA LUMPUR : Inspiring stories of women making it big as entrepreneurs are promised to be told in next week's forum - the 2011 Women Entrepreneurs' Forum, presented by Alliance Bank Bhd- There will be eight speakers, ranging from one woman who made her first million in her 20's, one who donated part of her liver to a stranger and now a successful social entrepreneur, a renowned hair stylist and one of Malaysia's well-known beauty therapists- The forum, to be held on June 17, is organised by a financial planning and management magazine, Money Compass and is expected to see the participation of 200 attendees- In a press conference to brief the media on the event, Money Compass principal consultant Amy Seok said the forum will be a platform for participants to network, share and learn from one another on how and what they can do to build their life around their dreams- "Being a woman is not easy- Most of them have husbands and children to take care of apart from handling the demand from their own career," she said- One of the speakers, financial specialist Brenda Yong said she will talk about how best to manage one's pot of gold, be it at home or work- "Some people can be rich at work but poor at home or vice versa- I will try to impart my knowledge with the audience on how to become rich at home and work," she said- Yong is the first woman in Malaysia to be a licensed financial adviser in the million dollar round table category- Another speaker, Fire Fighter Industry Sdn Bhd director Michelle Hah said her presentation will touch on the balancing act women has to play when it comes to being successful- "As for me, I founded my company with my husband and it is not easy to separate my role as a wife and partner to him but I managed to do it-" Property investor Chew Hoong Ling, who donated part of her liver on the same day she found out she had only one working kidney, said her condition did not stop her from not being active in business- Also a real estate negotiator, Chew is active in a number of youth development programmes and the founder of a organ donation site, Dortie-com- Other speakers at the event are Kaspersky Lab sales director Gun Suk Ling, young millionaire Fione Tan, A Cut Above co-founder Winnie Loo, Grant Thornton Malaysia executive director Seah Siew Yun and Clara International Beauty Group founder Datin Prof Dr Clara Chee- ...
