Sungai Buaya interchange ready by mid 2013
Jun 20, 2011
More than 100,000 road users in Sungai Buaya, Sungai Choh, Serendah and Rawang north areas will be able to save their travelling time between 40 minutes and one hour to get to the Klang Valley once the Sungai Buaya interchange is ready by June 2013.

Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said when the 1.5km-long interchange costing RM87 million was completed, PLUS Expressways Berhad (PLUS) would handle the toll collection at the interchange.

"The actual cost is more than RM100 million but the federal government is willing to pay the extra RM20 million for land acquisition while the interchange construction will be borne by Plus," he said at the ground-breaking ceremony of the project in Bandar Baru Sungai Buaya, Sunday.

Residents of Sungai Buaya and Sungai Choh are presently either using the interchange at Bukit Beruntung or interchange in Rawang to enter the North-South Expressway.

The new interchange project started on June 14 last year. It is situated at Km434.7 of the North-South Expressway between the Rawang interchange at Km444 and Bukit Beruntung interchange at Km428.

Shaziman said the RM87 million cost involved was not only for the construction of the interchange but also for the toll lanes, customers' service building, surau, public toilets and parking area.

Speaking to reporters later, the minister said the government was still considering the best toll rate for the interchange based on the current rates at several toll plazas to ensure users of the new interchange would be charged a reasonable rate. - Bernama
