Najib: 560 apartment units under PR1MA to be sold for RM120k each
Jul 05, 2011
The 560 apartment units at precinct 11, Putrajaya to be built under the 1Malaysia Housing Programme (PR1MA) will be sold for RM120,000 a unit, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced Monday.

He said the price was cheaper than the earlier price set between RM150,000 and RM300,000.

The project, to be developed by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd, is the first site identified under the first phase of the PR1MA Programme, he said.

Najib said the apartment units, measuring 1,006 sq ft by 815 sq ft, will be built on a 7.6 acre site.

The project will have a multi-purpose hall, a nursery, kindergarten, surau, business lots and shops.

The PR1MA Programme was launched to help medium-income earners to own houses as they could ill-afford to buy high-cost houses and could not be considered for a house under the low-cost housing programme.

Apart from precinct 11, Najib said 5,284 apartment units would be built under the programme at the federal government administrative centre in Putrajaya in the next five years.

Of the total, 1,317 would be built next year; 1,107 units in 2013; and the rest in 2015 and 2016, he said.

He said RM9 million would be allocated to Putrajaya Holdings as a facilitation fund to ensure that the houses could be offered to the people at the price set by the government.

Najib also reiterated the government's stand that the houses built under the programme was the social corporate responsibility of the companies under the Public Private Partnership initiative.

"I don't want to see profit or loss here. Break-even is enough," he added.

The government has identified 20 strategic sites around Klang Valley, Rawang and Seremban to build 42,000 houses costing below RM300,000. – Bernama
