KUALA LUMPUR: Allan Soo’s take on Malaysia’s retail assets following the recent global market fluctuation: “The previous crisis saw some consolidation of the managed funds industry, but the casualties were mainly the US funds exposed to the subprime market- “Apart from the risk of overexposed European funds now crumbling if there is a euro crisis in the near term, I think this time there will be less financial risks from a double dip to the funds here- “In fact, the double dip would result in the capital markets focussing on Asia yet again- “There is of course the possibility of a world recession, which would trigger a property market correction but REITs are long-term plays and purely yield driven, so I believe the net result would be more opportunities for acquisition by them- “If capital were to flow into Asia therefore I think it would be relatively easier for the REITs to raise cash for expansion-â€...
