KUALA LUMPUR: An inquiry secretariat, set up by the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) to investigate the issue of native and Orang Asli land rights, has called on the public to give feedback on the matter. Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to present their views to the secretariat to assist the commission in its inquiry, Suhakam said in a statement. Suhakam said interested parties could do so at the Suhakam office on the 11th Floor, Menara TH Perdana, Jalan Sultan Ismail here by bringing proof such as grants, pictures, maps and letters. Suhakam is carrying out the inquiry to look into the human rights aspects of land issues affecting the natives and the Orang Asli. The inquiry will propose appropriate steps to resolve the issue, according to the statement. From the consultation sessions held so far, Suhakam had received 407 complaints from Sabah, 198 from Sarawak and 287 from the peninsula.-The Edge
