Launched by Signature in September 2009, Kubiq is a quality yet affordable modular kitchen system aimed at the mass market that introduces a new and creative kitchen planning experience through a “self-involvement” concept. According to K.C. Tan, Signature International Berhad’s group managing director and co-founder, Kubiq was created to tap into the growing demand in the mass market segment of the population who are potential kitchen and wardrobe cabinet systems, including first-time home owners and new families.

“Kitchen systems are still a relative luxury for most home owners in Malaysia. Currently, households with kitchen cabinet systems in suburban townships or cities throughout Malaysia represent less than 10%. Kubiq's self-involvement concept centres on the bare cost of the cabinet modules, and customers only pay for the price of the product with the option of having other value-added services such as planning, delivery and installation at a nominal cost. A transparent and detailed component price list enables customers to manage their own budget without fear of hidden costs and fees.

At the Kubiq Business Opportunity launch today, Tan revealed that plans are underway to franchise Kubiq to Malaysian entrepreneurs, with the company expecting to obtain a franchising license by the middle of 2012. This is expected to exponentially increase the availability of Kubiq’s affordable kitchen systems solutions throughout the country through a growing network of retail support and representation.

One of the innovations demonstrated today was the Kubiq Ezikit, the company’s own interactive design and quotation tool that allows customers to complete the design and obtain a quotation within a few minutes without having to return to the dealer on another day, unlike most kitchen system sales where customers do not participate directly in the quotation process.

The Kubiq Ezikit is a scaled model of a kitchen with miniature cabinet modules that the customer can arrange according their kitchen layout preferences, and each module comes with a barcode that can be scanned for instantaneous electronic quotations.

If most of the customer’s choices are in stock, they can choose to cash-and-carry within the same day or control and manage their own delivery and installation schedule.
