Glomac Bhd has taken yet another step into the global arena with its plans to develop a mixed township in Pune, India, which boasts a development value of RM800 million situated on a 30-acre site.

Located in the state of Maharashtra, the city is the eighth largest in the country with a population of 4.5 million with the presence of many automobile, software and information technology (IT) companies setting up their plants in what most are calling the “Detroit” of India.

Managing director Datuk Fateh Iskandar Mohamed Mansor announced that the group has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pune-based developer Vescon in April of this year and hopes to formalize all arrangements by years end.

He also added that the group’s management team had scouted almost all the major cities in India for the past three years in search for the right business and partner, which is comparably slow, compared to other major developers in Malaysia but Glomac is dedicated to doing comprehensive research before setting a foot overseas.
