Sunrise Bhd's RM1.5 billion Solaris Dutamas, which has recorded RM1.1 billion is sales, is expected to initiate a surge in the number of surrounding households within a 5.5km radius to some 250,000 from 220,000 in 2005 when the project is completed in 2009.
According to managing director Datuk Michael Yam, "This translates into a population of more than a million within the primary catchment area."
He also added that the balance RM400 million worth of properties in Solaris would be retained for rental income and to control the tenant mix.
Launched last year, Solaris Dutamas will feature 457 shops over 1,000 office and office suites, 772 serviced apartments and more than 5,000 parking bays.
Just this week the company entered into a memorandum of understanding with Fitness First and Village Grocer as anchor tenants for the mammoth development.
Solaris is located within one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in the country with primarily catchments such as Taman Duta, Kenny Hills, Damansara Heights and Duta Nusantara, Mont’ Kiara and Sri Hartamas.
Sunrise has completed nine condominium projects and one commercial development in Mont' Kiara as well as its involvement in overseas ventures in Australia and Britian.
